About this role

Job summary

We are currently looking for an innovative, enthusiastic and motivated individual who can maintain and develop their research-based practice within a busy clinical environment. You will become a member of a flexible, friendly and well supported team, strongly committed to professional development in a progressive environment.

Main duties of the job

A quality preceptorship package is provided from our clinical teams with the support of our Clinical Educators.

The Surgical Admissions Unit is responsible for caring for patients requiring elective surgery pre and post operatively including day cases and overnight admissions. The unit accepts patients from 9 specialities.

The successful candidate will be supported and trained using a competency based package to enable a rotational programme within the Surgical Admissions Units and The post operatively surgical day unit.

The successful candidates will be required to work a rotational shift pattern including late shift up to 10pm

Person Specification

Knowledge Essential

Ability to work within the boundaries of the NMC Code of Professional conduct Commitment to the needs of the service including a flexible and adaptable approach in the work environment/work practices Effective communication skills, both written & verbal. A team player able to work well with others & demonstrates commitment to team objectives. Effectively prioritises and co-ordinates own work Ability to use initiative to make a decision within sphere of work and/or knowledge recognising where assistance is required Commitment to adhere to Trust Policies and Procedures and to contribute to an implement policy in own area and propose changes

Qualifications Essential

Diploma or Degree in Adult Nursing. Current NMC Registration

Experience Essential

Experience working within an acute or Community setting. Experience of Multi-disciplinary working Commitment to evidence based practice
