Job summary
Dependent upon department, there will be a requirement to be flexible and work both day and night shifts.
You will also be required to complete the care certificate within 6 months probationary period.
Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon skills, experience & qualifications.Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.
Band 3 requirements:Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or Maths & English GCSE (English Language or English Literature) A-C/4-9 orMaths & English O Level/GCE A-C or Maths & English CSE Grade 1 or NARIC/ENIC which compares the qualification to UK GCSE (https://www.enic-naric.net/) Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3;- Theoretical knowledge- Experience of a range of care and related procedures- clinical observations- knowledge of relevant legislationThere is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications.
Main duties of the job
Clinical support workers (CSW) play a vital role in providing excellent care to patients across all NHS care settings. They can help patients with social and physical activities, personal care, mobility, mealtimes, booking appointments etc.
They can work with many different patient groups, of all ages, including those receiving acute care, people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities or mental health conditions, and in maternity services.
You will provide a range of nursing skills within a community setting to meet the needs of our patients in a safe and caring environment that promotes dignity, privacy and respect. This post will offer you valuable experience and excellent opportunities to develop a career in care.
The CSW role can also lead to a range of career opportunities. With the right support, those who exemplify the skills and core values essential to delivering high-quality, compassionate care could, and can, go on to become our future nurses, nursing associates and midwives.
We will require the successful candidate to work days, night's weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.
You must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge & Skills (Band 2 & 3) Essential
Excellent interpersonal, communication and active listening skills. Ability to adopt appropriate styles and methods of communication. Time-keeping, planning and prioritisation skills. Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems to update basic patient information from personal care and associated activity. Insight into behaviours and skills of a carer and the need for effective team work. Understanding work-related boundaries. Awareness of GDPR and the need for confidentiality
Desirable
Familiarity with current NHS and social care policies.
Experience (Band 2) Desirable
Experience of working in a care role.
Qualifications & Training (Band 3) Essential
