An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and compassionate Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our Breast Cancer Care team at The Harley Street Clinic, part of HCA Healthcare UK.
As a Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting patients throughout their breast cancer pathway, providing expert clinical advice, emotional support, education, and advocacy. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals with both early and advanced breast cancer.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
Act as a key worker for patients with breast cancer, ensuring continuity of care throughout their treatment journey.Provide specialist nursing advice, support and education to patients, relatives and carers.Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care plans.Support patients in making informed decisions regarding treatment options and ongoing care.Manage patients with complex physical, psychological and emotional needs.Work collaboratively with consultants, nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team.Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to treatment planning.Promote evidence-based practice and contribute to service development initiatives.Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with professional standards.Act as a patient advocate and provide holistic care at all stages of the breast cancer pathway.

Job description Job responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for supporting patients throughout their illness, from pre-diagnosis onwards, so that the patient is well supported throughout. This is often referred to as a key worker.
They care for patients throughout their diagnosis and treatment. They take a key role in supporting the patients during their treatment and are an essential member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT). The Clinical Nurse Specialist is a critical and consistent contact point for patients who often will need to interact with different parts of the hospital in order to receive optimal treatment.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will;
Build trust with the physicians and patients through multidisciplinary care coordination.
Assist in educating patients about their disease so they can make informed decisions about their care.
Provide emotional support to the patient, family and caregivers.
Signpost patients to support networks, internally and externally.
Advocate for the patient in development of the treatment plan.
Manage a caseload within their own scope of practice, with support from the wider clinical team.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Significant post-registration experience within breast cancer services. Experience working within an acute hospital setting. Demonstrable experience supporting patients with breast cancer throughout the treatment pathway. Experience of multidisciplinary team working.
Qualifications Essential
Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration. First-level degree in Nursing. Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice, Cancer Nursing, Oncology Nursing or a related specialty, or currently working towards achieving this qualification.
Knowledge & Skills Essential
Advanced knowledge of breast cancer management. Experience managing patients with early and advanced breast cancer. Ability to assess and manage complex patient needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide emotional support and patient education. Strong organisational and caseload management skills. Commitment to evidence-based practice and quality improvement.
