We are looking for a School Nurse to join our welcoming and forward-thinking School Nursing team within the Public Health 0-19 Service in Merton (Fixed Term contract until Sept 2027). Essential requirement: You must be a Registered Nurse with current UK NMC registration and hold a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) qualification in School Nursing or be a current SCPHN School Nursing student due to qualify in the near future.
Main duties of the job
As a School Nurse, you will play an important role in improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people by delivering evidence-based, person-centred care.
You will:
Deliver the Healthy Child Programme for school-aged children. Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care for children, young people and families with a range of health needs. Promote physical, emotional and mental wellbeing, safeguarding and healthy lifestyles. Build positive relationships with children, families, schools and partner agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes. Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary Public Health 0-19 Service and with wider health, education and social care partners. Contribute to safeguarding practice and support early intervention to reduce health inequalities. Maintain accurate clinical records and work in line with professional standards, local policies and evidence-based practice. Support service development, quality improvement and health promotion initiatives while maintaining your own continuing professional development.
