About this role

Job summary

ESNEFT Colchester Hospital Maternity Services are looking for enthusiastic and committed Band 6 Midwives to join our friendly and dedicated team.

As a Band 6 Rotational Midwife, you will have the opportunity to work across the maternity service, gaining valuable experience in a variety of clinical areas and supporting women and families throughout their maternity journey.

You will work closely with women, their families and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide safe, personalised and high-quality maternity care. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about midwifery, committed to delivering excellent standards of care and who demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.

We have two post full time until 26th April 2027 and 20th June 2027.Part time hours will be considered for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work as part of the Midwifery Team, providing a high standard of individualised care in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period in the hospital setting.

The post-holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, without supervision, and may be required to teach other midwifery and non-midwifery staff.

The post-holder is also designated to take charge regularly of award or equivalent sphere of midwifery care in the absence of the midwife who has continuing responsibility.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications Essential

Registered Midwife. Knowledge of NMC Handbook of midwives Rules, Code of Professional Conduct, Scope of Professional Practice and its application to clinical practice.

Desirable

Has comprehensive knowledge of current practice in Midwifery. Practice assessor/Practice Supervisor training

Experience Essential

Evidence of clinical experience following completion of preceptorship.

Knowledge Essential

Ability to utilise audit and research findings in order to improve women's care

Desirable

Understands the concept of mentorship
