About this role

Job summary This is an exciting time to be joining the Endoscopy Unit at the Dudley Group of Hospitals. We have a JAG accredited Endoscopy Unit which has recently undergone expansion and now includes 5 endoscopy procedure rooms, with a separate room in radiology for Fluroscopy assisted procedures. We are further expanding into a Community Diagnostics Centre based at the Corbett Hospital site where we will be undertaking diagnostics and additional services such as cytosponge and Trans-nasal Endoscopy. We are now advertising for Staff Nurses, Band 5 to support the set up our community diagnostics services. The successful applicant will be working closely alongside the Endoscopy Nursing Team, Endoscopists , and the Decontamination Team, ensuring our patients receive a high quality of safe, compassionate and effective care during their Endoscopy Journey. As part of the Team, you will help to maintain the JAG Gold Standards for Endoscopy Services, and retain our annual Accreditation. If you enjoy a challenge and are highly motivated, organised and have good communication skills, and want to continue to develop your clinical Endoscopy knowledge and Skills, then this is the position for you. We offer support for flexible working, Mentorship and a JETS Endoscopy programme of learning , and access to training to enhance the role, and support staff engagement to put staff at the centre of change and innovation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development and implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision. They will be required to actively participate in the teaching and supervision of other nursing and non-nursing staff. The post holder will also be required to take a lead / link role for the nursing unit/department to be determined onappointment/appraisal.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Education Essential

First Level Registered Nurse Nursing degree

Knowledge & Training Desirable

Evidence of undertaking a recognised course of study in teaching and assessing, or commitment to complete Evidence of professional development

Experience Essential

Experience of working in an acute hospital setting Substantial post registration experience Completion of preceptorship/support skills Intravenous drug administration skills

Desirable

Computer Literate Venepuncture/ cannulation skills
