Lead Teacher
Position Description: Performs varied and complex administrative duties in the management and coordination of a large specialized project and/or program. Requires independent judgment and application of established policies and procedures. Works under general supervision with evaluation based on overall results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions: • Assist in the planning, organization, and delivery of graduate-level instruction in research methodology, epidemiology, biostatistics, and dental public health research topics. • Deliver instructional content using a variety of methods (e.g., lectures, small group facilitation, workshops, and research-focused sessions) under the guidance of course leadership. • Contribute to the development of course materials, assignments, and instructional resources, ensuring alignment with course objectives. • Assist in the grading and evaluation of student assignments, projects, and research activities; provide timely, constructive feedback to support student learning and progress. • Support student learning by providing guidance on research projects, manuscript development, presentations, and research competencies, in coordination with course leadership. • Assist in mentoring students and student teams in the development, implementation, and dissemination of research and community-based projects. • Support the preparation, submission, and management of Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, including documentation, responses to IRB stipulations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and ethical standards. Contribute to the development, coordination, and implementation of research initiatives that align with the school’s mission. • Participate as a co-investigator on internally and externally funded research projects. • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and supporting documents for federal, state, and private funding opportunities. • Contribute to the development of manuscripts, reports, and presentations for peer-reviewed publications and scientific meetings. • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to support research, instructional, and outreach activities. • Support the development and maintenance of partnerships with community organizations, health agencies, and academic institutions. • Participate in departmental meetings, program planning activities, and professional development opportunities as appropriate. • Provide service and support to departmental, school, and institutional initiatives. • Display professionalism, integrity, and a team-oriented mindset while working with students, colleagues, and community stakeholders. • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success and development of the Community Health Certificate program. • Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position. • Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSCEP OPs, etc.). • Personally, and consistently, demonstrate, display and act in accordance with Texas Tech Health El Paso’s Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree required; Teacher certification preferred. • Three years teaching experience required.
Preferred Qualifications: • Expertise in dental public health research and methodologies. • Demonstrated ability to teach research-focused courses and mentor students. • Good track record of research, publishing, and grant acquisition. • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills. • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines. • Master’s in public health, dental public health, epidemiology, health services research, or related field and experience with at least one major statistical software package (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R, SAS) is highly preferred.
