Job SummaryYou will serve as a EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the Inspections Branch (721), Inspection, Test and Quality Assurance Division of the Deputy Lifiting and Handlinf Department(701) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing comprehensive lifting and handling equipment inspections utilizing crane OEM manuals and technical drawings. Experience providing depth technical knowledge of general-purpose service (GPS) and special purpose service (SPS) requirements. Experience designing evaluating complex mechanical and electrical crane systems. Experience applying certification process for category 1, 2, and 3 cranes in accordance with NAVFAC P-307, NAVSEA 7000, and Navy Crane Quality Manual. Major DutiesYou will direct initial inspection of components during maintenance and repair of WHE to determine the physical as well as operational condition.You will visit work sites and if necessary, meet with code for clarification of scope of work, technical consideration, proper funding and general discussion of proposed work.You will prepare request, letters, etc. for the technical division for engineering services.You will originate and prepare drawing and sketches complete with details.
