Job SummaryYou will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the Quality Control Branch (Code 221), Process Controls Division(Code 220), Office of the Chief Engineer(Code 240), Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience using knowledge of engineering aspects unique to nuclear and non-nuclear aircraft carriers and vessels, and submarines, and special interface control requirements in accomplishing total ship/system engineering and design work. Experience applying knowledge of departmental engineering principles for disciplines which may be required at the job site for problem resolution. Experience using knowledge of naval ship systems and components for nuclear and non-nuclear submarines in relation to overhaul/repair. Experience using electronic computerized database systems and ability to input and manipulate data independently, AIM, AIM-EP, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience planning job project assignments. Experience resolving engineering design processes for modifications, problem resolutions, etc., and document for evaluations, quality trends, and historical information. Experience applying knowledge of mechanical, structural and electrical concepts and principles Experience effectively communicating with varying levels of management, via written and oral communications. Major DutiesYou will provide associated documentation to the branch supervisor for technical changes throughout work execution.You will provide ship availability job planning support at assigned project locations.You will ensure that normal progression of Engineering Division job planning work is maintained, both prior to availability start and throughout execution for assigned availability.You will be responsible for ensuring necessary funding issues are resolved and addressed in order to permit work to be accomplished as scheduled without delay.You will provide guidance and leadership to lower graded personnel and provide independent guidance oversight on routine maters without supervisory intervention.
