Key Accountabilities 1. Rubber Lining Application
• Apply rubber sheets/linings to the internal surfaces of tanks, vessels, pipes, valves, and other equipment as per approved specifications and procedures. • Ensure proper alignment, bonding, joining, and adhesion of rubber lining to the substrate. • Use appropriate tools, equipment, and techniques to achieve a high-quality finish. 2. Surface Preparation
• Prepare equipment surfaces prior to rubber lining through sandblasting, scraping, cleaning, grinding, or other approved methods. • Ensure surfaces are free from rust, contaminants, moisture, oil, and other materials that may affect adhesion. • Inspect prepared surfaces before commencing lining activities. 3. Bonding and Vulcanization
• Use compressed air or other approved methods to ensure proper bonding of the rubber lining to the vessel surface. • Carry out vulcanization using live steam, autoclaves, or other approved equipment and processes. • Monitor the process to ensure the required temperature, pressure, and curing conditions are achieved. 4. Inspection and Quality Testing
• Inspect completed rubber lining for defects, air pockets, wrinkles, poor adhesion, faulty seams, and other imperfections. • Conduct spark testing/holiday testing or other approved methods to identify pinholes, holes, or faulty seams. • Rectify defects or coordinate corrective work as required to meet quality standards. 5. Equipment and Site Installation
• Install rubber linings at customer or project sites when required. • Carry out site work in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and safety requirements. • Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to ensure smooth completion of site activities. 6. Tools, Equipment and Material Handling
• Safely operate and maintain tools and equipment used for rubber lining, surface preparation, bonding, testing, and vulcanization. • Handle rubber sheets, adhesives, solvents, and other materials correctly to prevent damage, wastage, or contamination. • Report defective tools, equipment, or materials to the supervisor. 7. Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance
• Follow all company HSE policies, risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work requirements. • Use the required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain safe working practices when handling chemicals, compressed air, steam, and other hazardous equipment. • Maintain a clean and safe work area and immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses. 8. Documentation, Housekeeping and Team Support
• Record completed work, inspection/testing results, material usage, and defects as required. • Maintain proper housekeeping of the work area, tools, and equipment. • Work effectively with supervisors, quality personnel, and other technicians to meet production and project schedules. • Perform other related duties within the scope of the role as assigned by the supervisor.
