Job summary
The South Wales Doctoral Training Programme in Clinical Psychology is seeking to appoint either a Clinical Psychologist or CBT Practitioner with BABCP accreditation to primarily support the delivery of the Cardiff Psychological Therapies University Clinic. The appointment will be with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and the successful candidate will join the existing team running the clinical psychology training programme. The post will be offered on a one year fixed term basis, with an extension of contract being dependent on the clinic securing further funding.
The Cardiff Psychological Therapies University Clinic has been developed in partnership with Cardiff University Student Support Services and the NHS Mental Health University Liaison Service (MHULS:https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/news/view/2632012-new-student-mental-health-service-officially-launches-in-cardiffThe successful applicant will work as part of a team to provide supervision to trainee therapists offering cognitive behavioural therapy sessions for students registered at a number of Universities in the South Wales area. The post holder may also be required to offer clinical sessions as needed.
Main duties of the job
The post holder may also be required to undertake some marking of academic assessments and depending on qualification contribution to other aspects of the provision of clinical psychology or/and CBT training. Supervisees are mostly trainee clinical psychologists, trainee CBT therapists, and occasionally qualified clinical psychologists. The post is open to CBT practitioners or HCPC-registered practitioner psychologists accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy. Interest in CBT training, supervision, and student wellbeing would be advantageous.
The Doctorate in Clinical Psychology is run in partnership between Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB) and Cardiff University. The programme is based in the School of Psychology which has an established international research record. The programme works in partnership with supervisors from across health boards in south, mid, and west Wales.
