About this role

Job Title: CNC Operator – OD GrinderJob DescriptionThis role is an on-site CNC Operator position in a smaller, climate-controlled machine shop that produces precision parts for the aerospace industry. You will set up and operate OD grinders and other CNC equipment, work directly from prints to hold tight tolerances, and verify that all parts meet quality specifications before packaging.Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Moore OD grinders in a dedicated grind room with multiple wet and dry grinders. • Work from engineering prints to hold tight tolerances of up to +/- 0.0005 inches (half thou). • Adjust tapers on OD grinders to maintain precise dimensions and surface quality. • Use quality instruments, such as micrometers and other measuring tools, to ensure parts meet specifications. • Operate other CNC machines and equipment as needed to support production. • Perform quality checks on parts, primarily visual inspections, to confirm they meet required standards. • Pack finished parts onto pallets in an organized and secure manner for shipment or further processing. • Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean and orderly work area. • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality goals. Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of CNC operating experience in a production or machine shop environment. • Hands-on experience operating OD grinders, including setup and adjustment. • Ability to read and interpret prints and work to tight tolerances up to +/- 0.0005 inches. • Proficiency using micrometers and other precision measuring instruments for quality verification. • Ability to adjust tapers on OD grinders and perform taper adjustment accurately. • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as part of daily duties. • Basic quality control skills, including visual inspection of parts to confirm they meet specifications. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Approximately 6 months of OD grinding experience is preferred. • Toolroom experience is a plus and may support more complex setups and adjustments. • Experience in aerospace manufacturing is beneficial for understanding industry standards and requirements. • Experience with manual grinders and wet/dry grinder operation is an advantage. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precision components. • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a small team environment. This is a smaller facility where you can expect close collaboration with a tight-knit team. The position follows a first-shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing consistent daytime hours in a professional industrial setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mishawaka, IN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
