An Exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Registered Nurse within our female PICU ward at West Park Hospital.
Cedar ward offers a fantastic opportunity for the right person to join a team who support female patients within a current 10 bedded ward environment, however there are discussion to reduce the bed occupancy.
Whether you're an experienced Registered Nurse or a Newly Registered Nurse, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a service that puts patient care first. You will have the time and support to make a real difference every day.
Student Nurse's that are due to register in the next 3 months are very welcome to apply. Full training and Preceptorship programme will be provided to help you build confidence and develop your career in this specialist area.
You will work as part of a broad multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality, patient focused care in a hospital setting, developing and implementing the integrated team approach within a supportive and enthusiastic team.
We want to support and ensure that you have a positive working experience within our services and are committed to identify and support your short- and long-term developmental needs through structured appraisal and access to training opportunities.
### Main duties of the job
Joining our acute inpatient service means you enjoy a fast paced work environment within a team who are focused on patient experience and recovery through high standards of care and evidence-based practice. As a staff nurse on the ward, you will work closely with service users and their relatives/ carers as part of a multi-disciplinary team - you will lead the way as a role model within the team, demonstrating compassionate leadership through the Trust Values and Behaviours. You will be a core part of the team for the ward, supporting and developing a collective approach to leadership and the development of the ward in conjunction with the team, patients and carers.
The successful postholder will improve the lives of those with mental ill health by minimising the impact of their condition through delivery of excellent services to promote recovery.
You will be compassionate in meeting the needs of patients, professionally accountable and responsible for patient care, and undertake a range of clinical/therapeutic interventions.
In addition to this, the postholder will Act as named nurse to patients, facilitate the development of others within the team and to support student nurses. You will also be responsible for the day to day running of the ward and always promote a positive image of mental health services for other people and the wider Trust.

### Qualifications

* Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD * To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale * Evidence of Continuing Professional Development * Trained Clinical Supervisor or work towards in an agreed timescale
### Experience
#### Essential
* Working with people with mental ill health / learning disabilities * Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation * Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers * Working in a multi-disciplinary team * Working in partnership with other agencies
### Knowledge

* Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field. * Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act) * Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice * Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice * Clinical Governance and its application in practice * Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
