Are you an experienced pharmacist with a passion for improving prescribing quality, medicines optimisation, and patient outcomes in primary care?
Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Prescribing Adviser to join our Medicines Management Team on a 12-month maternity cover basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of primary care pharmacy, supporting GP practices to deliver safe, evidence-based and cost-effective prescribing.
This post is a fixed term/secondment for 12 months from start date to cover maternity leave. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 8a Prescribing Adviser, you will play a key role in delivering the Health Board's Medicines Management Action Plan and supporting improvements in prescribing quality across primary care. You will work collaboratively with GP practices and multidisciplinary teams to optimise medicines use, improve patient care and support delivery of national and local prescribing priorities.

Key responsibilities include:
Supporting delivery of medicines optimisation initiatives across primary care. Analysing prescribing data and expenditure to identify opportunities for improvement and value-based prescribing. Providing expert clinical and therapeutic advice to healthcare professionals. Undertaking medication reviews and independent prescribing activities where appropriate. Developing strong partnerships with GP practices, community pharmacies and wider healthcare teams.
