Band 2 Occupational Therapy Assistant (Elderly Care)
Exciting opportunity to join a compassionate and aspirational Therapy Team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
The role will entail supporting older people who are admitted in to an acute hospital to regain function and independence. A big part of the role involves supporting to get patients home safely.
The successful candidate will work with qualified Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and other member of the multidisciplinary teams to deliver a high quality service for patients.
In this role you will work in line with the trust's CARE values to deliver person-centred care to ensure the best outcomes for patients in our care.
You will work with the Occupational Therapy team to assess and treat patients. You will work with the MDT and community partner organisations to ensure patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time whenever possible.
Main duties of the job
Face-to-face contact with patients, completing 'initial interviews' and information gathering with patients, their next of kin and other organisations such as social services. Delivering Occupational Therapy, working with the guidance of an Occupational Therapist to rehabilitate patients through practicing and supporting activities of daily living such as, washing and dressing, meal preparation, transfers. Supporting the completion of home visits with patients along side a qualified therapist. Liaison with internal teams to promote smooth transition for patient from hospital to community. Manual handling. Personal care.

Education to GCSE level including English and Maths IT skills, including email Knowledge of Occupational Therapy
