Main duties of the job

To act as Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist for detained male patients on Bowman ward within a multidisciplinary team setting. The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician for the care of their 8 inpatients. The post holder must be approved under the Section 12 (2) of the The post holder will be based at Bodmin Hospital and will provide clinical leadership to the Bowman low secure unit team, Cornwall secure services and Clinical leadership representation for Cornwall Partnership Trust regionally with Southwest provider collaborative The current direct clinical activity is Responsible Clinician for 8 male inpatients and access assessor for Cornish patients referred to Southwest provider collaborative via the CAMBIO bed flow system. The post holder will also take part in the on-call rota, covering general Consultant Psychiatrist duties.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training Essential

Recognised Medical Degree Full GMC Registration Inclusion (or eligibility for inclusion) on the Specialist Register or a Specialty Trainee within 6 months of gaining CCT Eligibility for Section 12 and AC Approval

Desirable

Relevant Higher Degree e.g., MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications Completion of Clinical and Educational Supervisor Training

Experience Essential

Experience in assessing and treating mental health patients in out-patient and community settings. Knowledge and evidence of participation in CPD Prior experience working in a rehabilitation Service

Desirable

Experience of working across different services within mental health Other relevant experience, e.g., specific psychological therapies Qualifications or experience in managing physical illness

Skills Essential

Previous experience in taking a leadership role in several multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring high quality care and staff morale Ability to manage own time, workload and prioritise clinical work. Ability to appraise own performance Excellent written and oral communication skills

Desirable

Evidence of specific achievements that demonstrate leadership skills.
