About this role

Summary The intern/aide will learn about multiple facets of pancreatic cancer - epidemiology, molecular biology, translational research, and clinical trials - while learning, in more general terms, how institutions collaborate towards a common goal.The intern/aide will be managing a database and attending research meetings for a national, multi-institutional consortium of academic institutions dedicated to improving outcomes in pancreatic cancer (the Canopy Cancer Collective). This is part-time, benefits eligible, 20 hours/week position. Job Duties Learns about multidisciplinary management of pancreatic cancer. Understands how academic institutions collaborate in translational and clinical research. Learns about the processes involved in conducting clinical research, from inception to IRB approval, execution, and data acquisition/interpretation. Attends the weekly BCM/DLDCCC multidisciplinary pancreatobiliary tumor board conferences to hear about new patients that will need to be entered into the Canopy registry. Enters new pancreatic cancer patients and their clinical information into the Canopy registry. Attends research meetings (internal and inter-institutional through the Canopy Cancer Collective). Helps devise research projects, writes protocols, interprets data as they emerge. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Must be enrolled in high school, trade/vocational school or higher education institution.
