About this role
About the Placement Programme Our Student Placement Programme is designed to give you more than just work experience – it’s your first step into the fast-paced world of Formula One®. During your time with us, you will: Work on live projects that make a direct impact on car performance Follow a tailored development plan, with regular feedback to support your growth Gain exposure to cutting-edge tools, technologies and processes in motorsport Be part of a collaborative and inclusive team that values your ideas Build skills that could set you up for a future career in Formula One®. This is an opportunity to develop, challenge yourself, and contribute to something extraordinary. If you share our racer’s spirit and want to write the next chapter in Aston Martin Aramco’s history, join us – where every team member plays a crucial role in our success, and your growth is as important as our achievements. We’re offering placements across several engineering areas. Whichever team you join, you’ll contribute to real projects that shape the performance of our Formula One® cars. Within your application, you’ll be asked to select your top three preferred roles from this advert, and your top one favourite. Performance Analysis Work on the analysis of simulation data to understand and improve car behaviour. You’ll support projects across multiple groups, helping to refine methodologies and develop insights that influence car development. Performance Development From developing new tools and methodologies to running simulation studies and physical rig tests, we tackle a broad range of engineering challenges in the development of our Formula 1 car. Working closely with engineers across the team, we use simulation, data analysis and testing to understand how the car behaves, explore new ideas, validate our models and guide the development of current and future car concepts. For a placement student, this is an opportunity to work on real F1 performance challenges across a diverse range of activities. You will develop practical engineering, simulation and analytical skills, while seeing first-hand how ideas are taken from concept through simulation and physical testing to influence the design and performance of a Formula 1 car. Performance Optimisation Support the optimisation of car setup by collating inputs from across performance engineering groups. You’ll help Mission Control and Trackside Performance make data-driven decisions during test and race events, while also contributing to tool and method development. AMPT Vehicle Dynamics (Aston Martin Performance Technologies) Apply F1 simulation and modelling methodologies to projects beyond Formula One®, from other motorsport categories to automotive industries. You’ll help develop advanced tools and methods to guide car performance, translate ideas into working concepts using simulation and rig testing, and contribute to growing AMPT’s vehicle dynamics capability. This role is ideal if you’re curious about how F1 performance optimisation can be applied to a wider engineering landscape. Aero Performance Work at the intersection of aerodynamics and data analysis to assess the performance on track. You’ll contribute to the understanding the aerodynamic behaviour on track, correlation to CFD and wind tunnel and optimisation of performance. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where your data analysis and problem-solving skills will directly influence car performance. Race Strategy Play an integral role in supporting race and test events, helping to inform decisions that directly influence car performance on track. Working closely with strategists and engineers, you'll support live operations from Mission Control, contribute to the development of analysis tools and processes, and produce pre-event and post-event reporting and insights for the wider team. You'll also undertake data-driven projects, either independently or collaboratively, using analysis to support clear, informed decision-making and identify opportunities to enhance team performance. This is a fast-paced and dynamic role where you'll contribute to the continuous improvement of the tools, processes and methodologies that help deliver competitive advantage.
