Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be pivotal in the service expansion of the Maternity Diabetes team at UHCW. We have a permanent position to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to assist the diabetes specialist midwives in caring for pregnant women with diabetes.

Main duties of the job

The role includes working closely with the Diabetes midwifery team in the Antenatal clinic department. The primary role of the Maternity Care Assistant (MCA) is to assist, support and work in collaboration with the midwife and the wider multidisciplinary team; to provide a safe and holistic approach to women-centred care and to achieve operational excellence

Job description Job responsibilities

As part of the maternity workforce team the applicant will be required to act as the first point of contact for dealing with routine enquiries and act as necessary to liaise with others as appropriate. They will be able to communicate with staff, patients and/or external organisations using appropriate methods and undertake agreed clinical and non-clinical tasks following training, ensuring referral to the appropriate trained staff as appropriate.The successful applicant will be computer literate and able to utilise relevant trust IT systems and electronic patient records and be involved with assisting in data collection, and audits.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

oLevel 2 BTEC Diploma and/or oequivalent qualification in a healthcare related subject. and/or oequivalent level of experience.

Experience Essential

oCare experience and/or oexperience in a customer facing role

Desirable

oNHS / experience of maternity department oExperience of working in a busy environment

Knowledge Essential

oThorough working knowledge of IT systems (Microsoft Office/ Excel /Word) oGood understanding of general office working procedures

Desirable

oAn understanding of current issues relating to the NHS. oTraining / knowledge of EPR

Skills Essential
