Description of Work This position will be assigned to and located at the George W. Randall Building Complex, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine, preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and repairs, insuring that assigned systems among the buildings and grounds of the Randall Building Complex are maintained in a safe, efficient manner and in accordance with Departmental standards.

This position is required to function at the Journeyman level for mechanical/plumbing and at least one other trade, preferably electrical or HVAC/Refrigeration.

This position is required to have multiple trade skills to allow the individual to deal with a variety of maintenance tasks on a routine basis, such as emergency generators, plumbing, electrical, HVAC/Refrigeration systems, boiler system, carpentry, as well as make minor repairs to buildings, both interior and exterior.

This position will be responsible for grounds maintenance. Ability to maintain and/or control an inventory of equipment, parts, tools, chemicals and keys is needed as well as the ability to supervise the work of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labor (including inmates) in completing assigned tasks and provide support to other staff members in the area of routine corrective and preventive maintenance or other duties assigned by the supervisor as deemed necessary. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Grade Range: $41,206.00 - $72,113.00

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Documented knowledge of the practices, methods, materials and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of building systems.

• Documented experience diagnosing and performing repair procedures on numerous types of equipment, and skills using related tools and equipment in the repair of mechanical, plumbing, electrical or HVAC systems.

• Journeyman level skills in at least two or more of these trades: mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC/Refrigeration, carpentry
