Job SummaryYou will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OA) in the Test Engineering Division (246), Chief Engineer (240), Engineering and Planning Department 200 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing timekeeper duties for various employees in SUPDESK or similar systems. Experience completing and routing travel request, making travel arrangements, and processing travel claims using the Defense Travel System (DTS) or similar systems. Experience preparing and reviewing official and unofficial correspondence. Experience performing administrative duties while utilizing modern office equipment and software. Major DutiesYou will receive visitors and calls from within the shipyard, other shipyards, and NAVSEA using courtesy and diplomacy to create the best impression possible of the Test Engineering Division.You will assist the manager and staff on the practical and technical aspects of office administration.You will develop and maintain a complete file on policy, administrative, and Department operational subject matter and can recognize and recommend action that are not consistent with the objectives of the functions of the Department.You will conduct studies of existing directives and forms to detect and eliminate conflict, overlap and duplication.You will provide assistance and is a source of information to the Division head on a wide range of subjects.You will compile, consolidate, and summarizes budgetary data from source documents.
