Job SummaryYou will serve as a MECHANICAL ENGINEER in the Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200), Combat Systems Division (Code 290), Sail Mechanical, Towed Array and Towed Buoy Systems (Code 295) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience working with sail mechanical systems or towed array systems. Experience making decisions in difficult situations. Experience applying knowledge of shop practices. Experience identifying and resolving changing work situations. Experience monitoring Cost and Schedule Performance and taking actions to correct negative trends. Major DutiesYou will act as a troubleshooter in the identification and resolution encountered during installations and testing phases of waterfront production efforts.You will conduct and perform pre-arrival testing to identify repair.You will coordinate the efforts of lower-level technicians to ensure scheduled dates will be met.You will prepare Technical Work Documents (TWD’s), Task Group Instructions (TGIs), Deficiency Forms (DFs) and specific material requirements (MRQT0 for production work.You will perform review of all test specifications, check-off sheets, and inspection procedures to be used in testing of assigned systems.You will make investigations of testing failures and prepare reports including remedial action to prevent further occurrences.
