Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic team player to provide secretarial support to the Gastroenterology department as a Medical Secretary.
This is a key role in a busy department that works closely with the Medical Teams, Nursing Team, Outpatients Department, the endoscopy unit and the wider hospital teams.
You will be part of a friendly patient focussed team, delivering high quality care to patients referred to the Gastroenterology team in Ipswich.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for ensuring that the administration needs of the department are completed in a timely way.
You will ensure that timeframes are met for the management of patient pathways in accordance with Referral to Treatment targets.
You will support team members by having a flexible approach to both workload, additional tasks and working patterns.
For this post you will require attention to detail as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise and plan.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Good clerical / secretarial background, proven experience Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and IT skills Work involving contact with members of the public.
Desirable
NHS experience Experience with Epic EPR
Qualifications Essential
5 GCSEs, grade C/4 or above, including English & Maths
Desirable
RSA/OCR 2-3 Audio Typing
Knowledge Essential
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times Data Protection Ability to communicate well with others at all levels, both verbally and written. Knowledge of all Trust/NHS targets Good keyboard skills
