Job summary
Mendlesham Medical Group is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser to join our friendly and busy dispensary team.We are a well-established rural GP practice, providing care to our local community from Mendlesham Health Centre and Manor Farm Surgery, Bacton, with dispensary services operating from both sites.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and reliable individual who will play a full and active role within our multidisciplinary practice team and help us continue to provide a safe, efficient and patient-focused dispensing service.This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, across our 2 sites as follows:
Manor Farm Surgery Monday 08:30 - 18:00 (30 mins unpaid break) Tuesday 08:30 - 18:00(30 mins unpaid break) Mendlesham Health Centre Wednesday 09:30 - 17:30(30 mins unpaid break) Thursday 09:30 - 17:30(30 mins unpaid break) Friday 14:00 - 18:30
Main duties of the job
Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme; Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor; Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient; Process hospital letters; Process dossette boxes; Manage ordering stock and stock control; Answer and deal with dispensary phone enquiries; Monitor patients exemption status; Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication; Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
You will have at least a Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification At least 2 years dispensary and pharmacy experience
Experience Essential
Excellent clinical and medication knowledge; Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting; The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career; The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making; The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach; Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills.
