Are you looking to start or develop your career in Mental Health Occupational Therapy?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team within our female Older People's Mental Health Inpatient Ward.
This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified or developing Occupational Therapist to gain specialist experience supporting older adults experiencing a range of mental health needs, including dementia, depression, anxiety, psychosis, and complex physical health conditions.
You will work as part of a supportive and skilled multidisciplinary team that values occupation-focused practice, recovery, person-centred care, and the promotion of independence and wellbeing.
You will join a warm, skilled and supportive Occupational Therapy team consisting of Band 6 and Band 5 OTs, dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistants and Activity Coordinators. Occupational Therapy is highly valued within our service and plays a central role in recovery-focused and strengths-based care.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist, you will provide assessment, intervention, and discharge planning for older adults admitted to the ward. You will work collaboratively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver high-quality occupational therapy services that enhance engagement in meaningful activities and support recovery.
Under the supervision of senior occupational therapists, you will:
Undertake occupational therapy assessments using a person-centred approach. Develop and implement individualised intervention plans. Facilitate therapeutic groups and one-to-one interventions. Support individuals to maintain and develop skills for daily living. Contribute to risk assessment and management plans. Participate in discharge planning. Work closely with families, carers, and community services. Maintain accurate and timely clinical records. Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
