About this role

Job summary The Café Assistant will play an important role within Jewish Cares Catering & Hospitality team at the Sugar Ronson Campus in Redbridge, providing a friendly, professional and responsive café and hospitality service. Working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends and evenings, the postholder will prepare and serve hot and cold food, beverages and refreshments, operate the till, manage stock and support hospitality functions and events. You will help maintain clean, safe and welcoming café, dining and hospitality areas, while following food safety, allergen, COSHH, infection control and health and safety procedures. The role requires excellent customer service, good communication and organisation, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Previous café, catering or hospitality experience and Basic Food Hygiene are desirable, although training can be provided.

Main duties of the job We are looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Café Assistant to join our hospitality team at the Sugar Ronson Campus. Working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, you will help create a welcoming environment for residents, community members, visitors and colleagues. Your role will include preparing and serving food and refreshments, operating the till, replenishing stock, supporting events and maintaining high standards across the café and dining areas. You will play an important part in providing a positive customer experience while ensuring food hygiene, safety and cleanliness standards are consistently maintained. About the role We are looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Caf Assistant to join our hospitality team at Sugar Ronson Campus.

This role is working 35 hours per week Monday to Friday with an expectation to to work occasional weekends and evenings. Hours are from 7.30am to 3pm or 8.30am to 4pm.

You will play an important role in providing a welcoming caf and hospitality service for residents, community members, visitors and colleagues. From preparing food and refreshments to serving customers and supporting events, you will help ensure everyone receives a friendly, professional and responsive service.

You will also help maintain clean, safe and welcoming caf, dining and hospitality areas, while following all food safety, hygiene and health and safety procedures.

What youll be doing Providing friendly and professional customer service to residents, visitors, community members and colleagues. Preparing and serving hot and cold food, beverages and light refreshments. Setting up and maintaining caf counters, dining areas and hospitality spaces. Operating the till and processing payments accurately. Receiving, storing and replenishing stock. Supporting hospitality functions, events and wider catering activities across the campus. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and presentation. Following food safety, allergen, COSHH, infection control and health and safety procedures. Completing required food safety and due-diligence records accurately. Working effectively both as part of a team and independently when required. Attending relevant training, meetings and supervision and taking responsibility for your own development. Helping to create a positive and welcoming environment that reflects Jewish Cares values. About you You will ideally have previous experience working in a hospitality, caf or catering environment and have a Basic Food Hygiene qualification, or be willing to undertake and pass the qualification.
