Job Title: Assembly TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Assembly Technician operates production and manufacturing equipment to build high-quality components in a controlled, compliant environment. This role focuses on precise mechanical assembly, disciplined production techniques, and accurate documentation to meet stringent industry and customer requirements. Responsibilities • Operate production and manufacturing equipment in accordance with established work instructions and process requirements. • Load materials into machines, monitor equipment performance, and make basic adjustments to maintain proper operation. • Maintain complete traceability and accurate documentation for all work performed, ensuring compliance with AS9100, ITAR/DFARS, and customer-specific requirements. • Apply disciplined assembly techniques, including crimping, soldering, splicing, potting, conformal coating, and heat-shrink application, to deliver repeatable and auditable results. • Perform mechanical assembly tasks using hand tools and power tools with a strong focus on accuracy and consistency. • Remove excess plastic and other materials from parts to meet quality and dimensional standards. • Conduct visual inspections of assembled components to verify quality, identify defects, and ensure adherence to specifications. • Follow blueprints and assembly instructions to build components and subassemblies to required tolerances. • Document work performed and maintain organized records to support quality control and regulatory compliance. • Adhere to all safety, quality, and process guidelines while working in a clean, controlled environment. Essential Skills • Proven ability to operate production and manufacturing equipment following detailed work instructions. • Experience with mechanical assembly using hand tools and power tools. • Ability to perform and maintain disciplined assembly techniques such as crimping, soldering, splicing, potting, conformal coating, and heat-shrink application. • Strong attention to detail in all aspects of assembly and inspection work. • Ability to read and write to understand work instructions, blueprints, and documentation requirements. • Capability to perform visual inspections and identify defects or nonconforming parts. • Comfort working with blueprints and mechanical drawings to assemble components to specification. • Commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and full traceability of work performed. • Ability to follow and support compliance with AS9100, ITAR/DFARS, and customer-specific requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous working experience in an optical lab or cleanroom environment is highly beneficial. • Familiarity with multi-step mechanical assembly processes. • Experience working under documented quality systems and audit requirements. • Ability to work effectively in a structured, process-driven production setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Little Falls, MN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
