About this role

Job Title: Production OperatorJob DescriptionThis role focuses on operating manufacturing equipment to produce half shafts and related automotive components in accordance with detailed work instructions. You will follow established safety and quality standards, support continuous production flow, and help the team meet daily production targets in a modern, climate-controlled facility.Responsibilities

• Feed and run machinery on the production line according to established work instructions. • Inspect parts and components using defined quality criteria to ensure they meet specifications. • Assemble products following detailed work instructions and production standards. • Assist in the production area with general tasks to support efficient workflow. • Monitor the production process and promptly report any issues or irregularities. • Perform visual inspection of produced parts in accordance with work instructions and quality alerts. • Carry out basic quality checks and testing activities to verify product conformity. • Perform other production-related activities as directed by leadership. • Clean and organize the workplace to maintain a safe and orderly environment. • Pack the final product following work instructions and packaging requirements. • Communicate effectively with coworkers to ensure efficient production and on-time completion of orders. • Stand for extended periods during the shift to operate machinery and perform production tasks. • Participate in continuous training within the production department to maintain and improve skills. • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall plant operations. Essential Skills

• Ability to lift 25 pounds repetitively and perform squatting, bending, and ducking motions as needed. • Ability to stand on feet for the full duration of the shift. • Strong attendance record and reliability in reporting to scheduled shifts. • (preferred). • Capability to use hand tools and power tools safely in a production environment. • Ability to read and follow work instructions and quality alerts accurately. • Basic measurement skills, including the use of a tape measure for production and quality checks. • Attention to detail for inspection, sorting, and quality verification of parts. • Ability to work effectively in a general labor and production setting, including loading, packing, and packaging tasks. • Effective communication skills to collaborate with coworkers and support team goals. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in production, assembly, or general manufacturing is beneficial. • Experience with plastic components or materials handling in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. • Comfort using common hand tools and power tools in line with safety procedures. • Experience with general production activities such as cleaning, sweeping, and sorting. • Demonstrated ability to follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area. The plant includes a 30,000 sq. ft warehouse off the main manufacturing floor and additional leased space totaling 150,000 sq. ft. The environment is described as spotless and well-maintained, with a strong emphasis on cleanliness and organization. Work is performed on production lines using machinery, hand tools, and power tools, and involves tasks such as loading, packing, inspection, and general production activities. Shifts are available across multiple crews, including early morning to mid-afternoon and late afternoon to overnight schedules. Steel-toe footwear is required starting on the first day to support safety standards on the production floor. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pontiac, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.35/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
