Job Title: DishwasherJob DescriptionThe Dishwasher plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment within a women’s and babies hospital. This position is responsible for washing and sanitizing dishes and kitchen equipment, supporting food service operations, and upholding high standards of cleanliness and safety in all dish and kitchen areas. Responsibilities • Wash, rinse, and clean dishes by hand or using a commercial dishwasher, ensuring all items are thoroughly sanitized and ready for use. • Clean and sanitize pots, pans, trays, utensils, and other kitchen equipment in accordance with established procedures. • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and food preparation surfaces, promptly addressing spills and debris. • Remove trash from dish and kitchen areas, following proper disposal procedures and maintaining sanitation standards. • Organize and restock dishware, utensils, and kitchen items in designated areas to support efficient food service operations. • Transfer supplies and assist with loading and unloading deliveries, ensuring items are stored safely and appropriately. • Follow all safety and infection control procedures, including proper use of cleaning agents and personal protective practices. • Work collaboratively with kitchen and food service staff in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. • Adhere to rotating weekend schedules and remain open to overtime as needed to support operational demands. Essential Skills • Ability to wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes and kitchen equipment using both manual methods and a commercial dishwasher. • Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and sanitation in all dish and kitchen areas. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented food service environment. • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds safely. • Basic understanding of food safety and infection control practices. • Reliability and flexibility to work rotating weekends and overtime when required. • Customer service orientation and professionalism in a hospital setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous dishwashing or food service experience preferred but not required. • Background in foodservice, retail, or hospitality is beneficial. • Experience in roles such as line cook, kitchen worker, waiter/waitress, fast food worker, food worker, cashier, or general labor is an advantage. • Experience with housekeeping, cleaning, or tray line service in a healthcare or cafeteria environment is helpful. • Comfort working in a women’s and babies hospital environment. • Ability to adapt to varying hours and changing operational needs. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a women’s and babies hospital, working primarily in a modern, recently renovated cafeteria and kitchen area equipped with state-of-the-art machines and equipment. The environment is clean, organized, and focused on maintaining high standards of sanitation and infection control. The position requires standing for extended periods, regular lifting of items up to 50 pounds, and working in a fast-paced setting with rotating weekend shifts and occasional overtime. Team members collaborate closely with food service and hospitality staff to support patient, visitor, and staff meal services. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, PA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
