Job Title: CMM OperatorJob DescriptionThis role focuses on operating coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to inspect manufactured parts and components, ensuring they meet precise quality standards. You will perform measurements, support in-process inspections, and accurately document and report any abnormalities to maintain a high level of quality control in a machine shop environment.Responsibilities
• Operate 1–2 CMM machines to measure and inspect manufactured parts and components with a high degree of accuracy. • Perform in-process inspections to support production and ensure parts meet required specifications and tolerances. • Document measurement results clearly and consistently for quality records and traceability. • Identify, document, and report any abnormalities or nonconformances as soon as they are recognized. • Support overall quality control processes within the machine shop, collaborating with production and quality teams. • Use GD&T principles when interpreting engineering drawings and applying measurement strategies. • Utilize CMM software (such as Calypso or PCDMIS) to run inspection programs and contribute to programming activities as needed. • Follow established procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines while operating CMM equipment. • Maintain a clean and organized work area around CMM machines and inspection stations. • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to inspection methods and quality control practices. Essential Skills
• Minimum 2+ years of hands-on CMM operating experience OR post-secondary education related to CMM or metrology. • Practical experience working in a machine shop environment. • Strong understanding of CMM operation and inspection processes. • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) for interpreting engineering drawings and measurement requirements. • Experience with Zeiss CMM equipment strongly preferred. • Ability to perform detailed inspections and quality control checks on manufactured parts. • Proficiency in documenting inspection results and reporting abnormalities accurately and promptly. • Solid attention to detail and ability to work with precision measurement tools and software. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience with programming a CMM machine is an asset. • Experience using Calypso or PCDMIS software is an asset. • Knowledge of quality control or inspection within a manufacturing or machine shop setting. • Post-secondary education in a related technical field (such as manufacturing, mechanical engineering technology, or metrology) is considered an asset. • Comfort working with Zeiss CMM systems and related software tools. • Ability to adapt to different shifts, including afternoons and weekend schedules. Work EnvironmentThe role is based across three facilities located within approximately 2 kilometers of each other, providing flexibility and exposure to different areas of the operation. The machine shop layout is clean, bright, and well-organized, creating a comfortable and safe setting for precision inspection work. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vaughan, ON. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
