About this role

Job Title: Mechanical AssemblerJob DescriptionThis role involves assembling mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment using hand and power tools while following detailed assembly drawings. You will work primarily on the first shift in a full-time capacity, supporting the production of mail automation equipment. The position begins as a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity, offering long-term potential for individuals who demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, reliability, and teamwork. Responsibilities • Read and interpret assembly drawings to understand how to correctly build mechanical assemblies. • Assemble and build mail automation equipment according to specifications and quality standards. • Use a variety of hand tools and power tools to assemble components safely and accurately. • Recognize and correctly handle mechanical parts such as pulleys, bearings, springs, and gears during assembly. • Identify and utilize appropriate hardware including screws, bolts, nuts, washers, and snap rings. • Work independently on assigned tasks, managing time and priorities to meet production goals. • Collaborate with team members on larger projects, communicating clearly to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow. • Lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the day while performing assembly tasks. • Stand for the majority of the shift while working at assembly stations. • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area. • Support overtime and occasional weekend work as needed to meet production demands. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of mechanical assembly experience in an electronic or mechanical manufacturing environment. • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, including simple blueprint-style diagrams. • Ability to recognize common mechanical parts such as pulleys, bearings, springs, and gears. • Ability to identify and correctly use hardware such as screws, bolts, nuts, washers, and snap rings. • Previous experience using both hand tools and power tools in an assembly or production setting. • Capability to lift 40 pounds repeatedly and stand throughout the shift. • Dependable, organized, punctual, and detail-oriented work habits. • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. • Willingness to submit to a drug test as part of the hiring process. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience assembling mechanical or electromechanical equipment in a production environment. • Familiarity with mechanical assembly processes and production workflows. • Comfort working with tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, and other common hand and power tools. • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest in building or repairing equipment. • Motivation to grow into advanced roles, including potential field technician positions supporting equipment installations. • Ability to adapt to changing production needs and support overtime when required. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a manufacturing environment within a new, climate-controlled facility. You will work on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the possibility of overtime and occasional weekend work depending on production needs. The workplace emphasizes a strong team atmosphere where collaboration and communication are important. You will regularly use hand tools and power tools at assembly stations and will be on your feet for most of the shift while lifting up to 40 pounds throughout the day. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plano, TX. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
