Tasks: Trim trees to achieve the desired pruning objective such as crown cleaning, thinning, raising, reduction, restoration, espalier pruning, vista pruning. Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens. Apply various treatments such as pruning, spraying, repairing damaged areas and injecting with treatment solutions. Examine trees and shrubs to diagnose problems and disease. Plan and co-ordinate the growth and use of plants for landscaping, ornamental uses and other purposes. Plant and move trees. Tree removal. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Horticulturist Trade Certification. International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certification. Arboriculturists Trade Certification. Apprenticeship training: Level one apprenticeship training. Level four apprenticeship training. Level five apprenticeship training. Landscaping experience: Residential projects. Commercial and/or industrial construction. Park and recreation sites. Restoration and preservation projects. Specialization or experience: Green economy sector. Specialized environmental skills and knowledge. Area of specialization: Horticultural consulting. Plant knowledge and identification. Transportation/travel information: Own vehicle.
