The job in a nutshell

Support with group reporting projects including streamlining the month-end processes to increase efficiency and reduce risk.Support the finance team with various month-end procedures, ensuring group reporting is delivered to the leadership team.Prepare journals and balance sheet reconciliations accurately and on time each month.Take ownership of fixed asset accounting and other areas of the balance sheet, as required.Help to manage VAT compliance for entities across the group. Support the finance team through the audit of group and statutory accounts.

What you will do

Monthly Reporting: Support the wider Finance team in closing the month-end group accounts. Work alongside the FC and Financial Reporting Manager to analyse variances to budget and support the communication of performance. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.Process Improvement: Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, challenging systems and processes to increase efficiency. Be curious and always learning. Tax Compliance: Lead the preparation and filing of quarterly VAT returns across local group entities. Loan Compliance: Populate a monthly borrowing base certificate for the group’s ABL facility.Year-End End Audit and Statutory Accounts: Support the FC and Financial Reporting Manager with the end-to-end audit and statutory reporting process across the group, coordinating with the wider UK Finance team, overseas entity accountants, and external advisors.

What you will bring to the role

Experience / Achievements

A solid understanding of accounting principles and double entry. Experience of working within a Finance team, working towards formal accounting qualifications. Familiarity with month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliation and financial data management.A general understanding of tax principles (primarily VAT and excise duty).Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Your Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours

Strong written and verbal communication skills.Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.Experience with financial systems (SAP experience is advantageous).Detail-oriented, solutions-driven, and highly efficient.Confident presenting new ways of thinking and eager to challenge the status quo. A desire to learn about and implement automation initiatives.
