Job SummaryThis is a detail opportunity open to Department of Navy permanent civilian employees in the competitive service currently at the ND-4 (GS-12/13 equivalency) pay band (or higher). The selectee will be placed on a temporary detail not to exceed 1 year. The detailee for this position will serve as a SCIENTIST in the offices of Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Newport Division.

Major DutiesYou will perform tasks involving the research, design, operation, maintenance and development of systems and the equipment and/or components related to those systems.You will apply and develop systems and sub-system requirements and specification documents; Developing and designing solutions to complex system problems.You will lead and work with team members in identifying project risks and associated mitigation plans.You will participate in and lead various Undersea Systems and Subsystems Integrated Product Team (IPTs) meetings.You will review and analyze system requirement specifications and technical design review packages and providing subject matter expert comments and updates.You will engage in system engineering efforts including cost and schedule as well as technical aspects.You will work with and mentor team members in developing project risks and associated mitigation plans.You will prepare proposals and budget estimates for new and existing tasks.You will communicate with project schedule, status, and risks to technical and management personnel at all levels.
