Job SummaryYou will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Australia Maintenance Support division in the Engineering & Planning Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. The location for this position is Garden Island, Australia. ***See Additional Information section below for details***

QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Providing hands-on technical experience in a marine shipyard, naval intermediate maintenance facility (IMF), or active-duty Navy submarine maintenance environment. 2. Utilizing both electrical and mechanical technical principles (e.g., system testing, component troubleshooting, or machinery alignments). 3. Experience in troubleshooting and repair of Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) systems on submarines. Major DutiesYou will provide immediate and authoritative technical assistance for urgent issues affecting major systems to ensure their safe, reliable, and efficient operation.You will develop and direct technical and engineering guidance to resolve complex system problems that are beyond the diagnostic capabilities of naval forces or repair activities.You will perform special engineering analyses and studies to develop or evaluate improvements in system design, maintenance procedures, and materials.You will act as a Test Coordinator and Team Leader, organizing teams to perform major system functional check-outs, tests, and inspections to ensure repairs meet mission requirements.You will perform inspections and functional demonstrations of major shipboard systems to determine material condition, compliance with installation objectives, and overall system operability.
