QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with Nondestructive Test (NDT) concepts, theories, principles, practices, and techniques related to the execution of the Lead NDT program assigned as it relates to naval nuclear propulsion plants, support and auxiliary systems and facilities Developing plans (e.g., procedure/equipment/material qualification, UT scan plans, etc.), which are based on calculated/technical approaches to ensure product quality is maintained Providing advice and/or innovative recommendations for final technical approval to colleagues, Senior Shipyard Managers, the NAVSEA Authorized Representative, Quality Assurance Director, Government Inspector (Nuclear/Non-Nuclear), other NAVSEA representatives Overseeing inspection on naval vessel propulsion plant systems, and all naval maintenance work to include Submarine Safety Deep Submergence Systems Scope of Certification (SUBSAFE/DSS-SOC), Nuclear Systems, and other critical systems Certification in Level III in NDT Core Methods (VT, MT, and PT) and at least one major NDT method (ET Tube Analysis, RT Operator/Interpreter, and/or UT Shearwave.) Major DutiesYou will oversee inspection on naval vessel propulsion plant systems, and all naval maintenance work to include Submarine Safety Deep Submergence Systems Scope of Certification, Nuclear Systems, and other critical systems.You will direct, control, monitor, interpret, and provide resolution on all matters pertaining to the effective conduct of Nondestructive Test (NDT) execution.You will be responsible for interpreting source documents and being the technical authority for all Shipyard NDT work as well as reviewing/approving contracted work.You will review and evaluate new technology for implementation and incorporation in the Nondestructive Test (NDT) program.You will provide consultant services for NDT problems and be responsible for ensuring proper investigation and resolution of all NDT problems performed, which include developing corrective actions.You will be responsible for mentoring and developing new hire NDT Test examiners through NAVSEA certification.
