Specialized Experience at the GS-10 level: One year of specialized experience which includes at least two of the following: 1) utilizing electronic survey equipment on vessels; OR 2) processing raw survey data to generate plots or cross-sections; OR 3) drafting technical reports or bulletins. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Specialized Experience at the GS-11 level: One year of specialized experience which includes at least two of the following: 1) directing field survey crews; OR 2) analyzing hydrographic survey data to determine controlling depths; OR 3) coordinating the utilization of vessels, equipment and personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent. For the GS-10 you must have 52 weeks at the GS-09 level. For the GS-11 you must have 52 weeks at the GS-10 level. With regards to time-in-grade validation, if you held a position other than a GS pay plan, be sure your resume includes the pay plan and the salary you earned during the assignment. Without this information, your time-in-grade validation may not be able to be verified and will result in your not meeting the time-grade requirement for this vacancy. Major DutiesCoordinate hydrographic reconnaissance surveys of waterways to obtain accurate data and evaluate current waterway conditions.Distribute and adjust daily field assignments for subordinate survey team members based on shifting project priorities and navigational deadlines.Monitor project expenditures for vessel repairs/maintenance, labor, and supplies to ensure operations remain within allocated funding limits.Review field reports and survey plots generated by team members to verify technical accuracy and compliance with district engineering standards.Analyze hydrographic survey data to determine controlling depths, predict shoaling patterns and recommend dredging requirements.
