Requirements: We require 1-2 years of experience for one role and 2-4 years of experience for the other.GCSEs in maths and English or equivalent.A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is desirable, or equivalent practical experience.2-4 years of professional experience developing applications in Python.Strong understanding of Python fundamentals, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.Experience with at least one modern Python web framework such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.Solid understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server, and SQL.Experience with version control such as Git and collaborative workflows such as GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.Experience with RESTful API design and integration.Experience with software testing principles and writing unit tests such as pytest or unittest.Comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum environment.Good understanding of the software development lifecycle and CI/CD principles.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Good communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work unsupervised.Ability to deliver to agreed timescales and highlight issues early if timelines may be affected.Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team.Ability to write unit tests and understand integration testing.Ability to analyse and clarify requirements and technical designs.Ability to perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback.Awareness of security requirements in a PCI-DSS accredited environment and ability to write secure code.Ability to communicate effectively throughout the development process with stakeholders and management.Ability to gain insights into the business within the market based on an understanding of business trends.Experience of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is desirable.Experience of containerisation such as Docker and orchestration such as Kubernetes is desirable.Exposure to data engineering tools or libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, or NLP libraries is desirable.Knowledge of message queues and event-driven architecture such as RabbitMQ or Kafka is desirable.Understanding of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps is desirable.Experience working in a regulated industry such as financial services, insurance, or healthcare is desirable.Familiarity with front-end basics such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS is desirable.Knowledge of software security best practices is desirable. Responsibilities: Design, develop, test, and maintain Python applications, scripts, and services.Build and maintain APIs and integrations with third-party systems and internal platforms.Write clean, well-documented, and testable code following best practices such as PEP 8 and SOLID principles.Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, data, QA, and operations to translate business requirements into technical solutions.Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and agile ceremonies.Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues in a timely manner.Contribute to the design and optimisation of data pipelines and database interactions.Support CI/CD pipeline development and deployment automation.Write and maintain unit, integration, and regression tests.Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements where relevant.Assist in 2nd/3rd line support.
