Job Title: Maintenance MechanicJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to support the troubleshooting, repair, installation, and preventive maintenance of mechanical equipment within a large industrial manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for maintaining pumps, fans, conveyors, rotating equipment, drive systems, and process equipment to support safe and reliable plant operations.This position is part of a union workforce with a seniority-based shift bidding process every six months. Candidates must be open to working all shifts.Top 3 Required SkillsTo be considered, candidates must have hands-on experience in all three of the following areas:Rotating Equipment & Pump MaintenanceTroubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial pumps, fans, gearboxes, motors, and rotating equipment.Experience with centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, and fluid transfer systems.Understanding of flow rates, system performance, and equipment reliability.Precision Alignment & Mechanical TroubleshootingPerforming shaft alignments using dial indicators and/or laser alignment tools.Diagnosing vibration, bearing, coupling, seal, and equipment failures.Troubleshooting mechanical systems to determine root cause and perform corrective repairs.Industrial Maintenance & Equipment RepairExecuting preventive and corrective maintenance in an industrial manufacturing environment.Working from work orders, maintenance procedures, and equipment documentation.Repairing conveyors, pumps, fans, drive systems, process equipment, and mechanical components.Candidates without industrial mechanical maintenance experience will not be considered.Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment throughout the facility to minimize production downtime. • Execute daily work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and emergency repairs. • Inspect, repair, and rebuild pumps, fans, gearboxes, drive systems, and rotating equipment. • Perform precision shaft alignments using dial indicators and laser alignment equipment. • Troubleshoot failed equipment and identify root causes of mechanical failures. • Replace bearings, seals, couplings, belts, chains, and other mechanical components. • Work with centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, and process transfer equipment. • Support crane operations, rigging activities, and equipment installations. • Assist with pipefitting, mechanical assembly, and equipment modifications. • Read and interpret equipment drawings, schematics, and maintenance procedures. • Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately and safely. • Follow all plant safety, environmental, and operational procedures. Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of industrial maintenance mechanic experience. • Experience troubleshooting and repairing pumps, fans, motors, gearboxes, and rotating equipment. • Experience performing shaft alignments using dial indicators or laser alignment tools. • Ability to diagnose mechanical failures and perform corrective repairs. • Experience utilizing hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and maintenance equipment. • Ability to read and interpret maintenance drawings and technical documentation. • Experience working in manufacturing, power generation, refinery, chemical, food processing, mining, oil & gas, or similar industrial environments. Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Goulds, Durco, Moyno, or similar industrial pumps. • Experience operating overhead cranes and rigging equipment. • Welding experience (Stick and/or MIG). • Pipefitting experience. • Experience working around boilers, compressed air systems, and process equipment. • Military experience involving power generation, utilities, or industrial mechanical systems. Training & Development
• Structured onboarding and hands-on training program. • New hires will work alongside experienced mechanics during the first several months. • Progress is evaluated through 30-, 60-, and 90-day reviews. • Ongoing training opportunities including mechanical seals, shaft alignment, crane operation, and site-specific maintenance procedures. • Most maintenance work is completed in team environments alongside other mechanics. Schedule & Shift Requirements
• Initial training schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM. • Training period is approximately six months. • Following training, shift assignments are determined through a union seniority-based bid process. • Candidates must be willing and able to work all shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. • Future shift assignments may change based on operational needs and union shift bidding. Work Environment
• Industrial manufacturing facility supporting production and research operations 24/7. • Work may be performed throughout multiple plant areas including fermentation, distillation, recovery operations, utilities, boiler systems, and compressed air facilities. • Exposure to noise, heat, rotating equipment, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions. • Work at elevations up to 60 feet may be required. • Frequent walking, climbing, lifting, bending, and standing. • Team-oriented environment with a strong safety culture and low employee turnover.
