About this role

Job Title: WelderJob DescriptionThis role focuses on welding parts for train cabs, enclosures, and components used in large duct systems. You will perform high-quality MIG welding using hardwire, interpret blueprints accurately, and weld in multiple positions, including overhead, flat, and vertical, within a fast-paced production environment. Responsibilities • Weld parts and assemblies for train cabs, enclosures, and large duct system components using MIG hardwire. • Perform welding in multiple positions, including overhead, flat, and vertical, while maintaining high quality and safety standards. • Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings to understand weld symbols, dimensions, and assembly requirements. • Set up, operate, and adjust MIG welding equipment using .035–.045 hardwire to meet project specifications. • Inspect welds for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity, and make necessary adjustments or repairs. • Collaborate with fabrication and production teams to ensure parts are completed on time and meet required tolerances. • Handle and position heavy materials and components safely for welding and assembly. • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of PPE and safe operation of tools and equipment. • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production and reduce safety risks. • Support continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on processes and participating in training as needed. Essential Skills • Proven experience with MIG welding using hardwire (.035–.045 wire) in a production or fabrication environment. • Ability to weld confidently in multiple positions, including overhead, flat, and vertical. • Strong blueprint reading skills, including understanding weld symbols and fabrication details. • Hands-on experience with flux core welding. • Experience with TIG welding in a metal fabrication setting. • Background in heavier MIG and construction-style welding work. • Ability to work safely with heavy materials and welding equipment. • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Fabrication experience, including fitting and assembling metal components. • Experience in organized, high-volume production environments. • Exposure to welding or fabrication work similar to that done in heavy equipment or industrial manufacturing. • Interest in developing leadership skills and taking on additional responsibilities over time. • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with production staff. Work EnvironmentYou work in a structured production environment with two shifts available: first shift runs from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and second shift runs from 2:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The facility supports high-volume welding and fabrication work, using MIG, flux core, and TIG welding processes. The environment is geared toward organized, efficient production with opportunities for overtime, and you collaborate closely with other welders and fabrication staff in a shop setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Menomonee Falls, WI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
