Job Title: Aircraft Teardown MechanicJob DescriptionThis role supports a certified aircraft repair station that provides comprehensive maintenance services across the full service life of commercial aircraft fleets. As an Aircraft Teardown Mechanic, you prepare aircraft for teardown, perform basic de-servicing tasks, and support shop operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance activities on a variety of commercial aircraft platforms. Responsibilities • Prepare aircraft for teardown by cleaning parts, removing components, and accurately cataloging all aircraft parts for reclamation and storage. • Perform basic aircraft de-servicing tasks, including defueling, draining hydraulic systems, and deactivating oxygen and fire protection systems in accordance with established procedures. • Support shop operations by performing routine maintenance on company equipment and tools to ensure they remain in safe and reliable working condition. • Carry out general housekeeping duties in hangars, shops, and work areas to maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment. • Follow all safety policies and procedures to protect yourself and coworkers, and maintain strong, compliant working conditions. • Interpret and apply technical data, manuals, and work instructions related to aircraft teardown and maintenance tasks. • Organize and plan daily work to meet deadlines and production schedules while maintaining high quality standards. • Operate vehicles and aircraft ground servicing equipment safely, including tugs, tractors, hi-lifts, trucks, servicing carts, and forklifts, as required. • Work effectively under supervision, communicating progress, issues, and needs clearly to leads and supervisors. • Use hand tools and other equipment correctly and safely to remove, clean, and process aircraft components. • Adhere to tool control requirements, ensuring all personal tools are properly etched and accounted for at all times. • Comply with physical and environmental requirements, including working in hangars, on the flightline, and in shop areas with exposure to noise, temperature changes, and moving machinery. Essential Skills • 3–5+ years of mechanical experience, preferably in aircraft or automotive maintenance. • Ability to read, write, and understand the English language, including following verbal and written instructions. • Experience using hand tools for mechanical work such as teardown, repair, and maintenance. • Ability to interpret and apply technical data, manuals, and instructions related to aircraft maintenance and teardown. • Strong attention to detail with basic mathematical skills for measurements, counts, and documentation. • Ability to organize and plan work effectively while meeting deadlines and production requirements. • Ability to safely drive and operate vehicles and applicable ground support equipment. • Ability to work effectively under supervision and as part of a maintenance team. • Current valid driver’s license. • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, reaching above shoulder level, and occasional crawling and climbing. • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds unassisted. • Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity suitable for detailed mechanical tasks. • Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to safely perform duties in an active maintenance environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Aircraft maintenance experience on commercial aircraft platforms such as Boeing and Airbus is highly beneficial. • Experience with aircraft parts cataloging, component identification, and maintenance documentation. • Familiarity with aircraft teardown processes, storage, and reclamation operations. • Basic understanding of hydraulic, fuel, oxygen, and fire protection systems in aircraft or similar mechanical systems. • Ability to work in environments with high noise levels, temperature variations, and around moving machinery and electrical equipment. • Possession of a basic set of personal tools suitable for mechanical and teardown work, properly etched prior to the first day on site. • Comfort working in aircraft maintenance hangars, on the flightline, and in avionics or shop environments. • Willingness to work overtime on an as-needed basis. • Openness to a contract-to-hire arrangement, with potential for direct hire based on attitude and performance. Work EnvironmentThis position operates primarily on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work takes place in aircraft maintenance hangars, on the flightline, and in avionics and shop areas, where you may encounter high-intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, electrical charges, radar waves, and materials identified on Safety Data Sheets, as well as moving machinery and ground support equipment. The role is physically active, requiring extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking, frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level, and occasional crawling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted. You may use protective equipment such as goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses, and breathing equipment as needed. Commonly operated equipment includes aircraft ground servicing tools such as tugs, tractors, hi-lifts, trucks, servicing carts, test equipment, hand tools, reach forklifts, 36K forklifts, and 10K reach forklifts. The environment is structured, safety-focused, and suited to individuals who are comfortable working around aircraft and heavy equipment in an active maintenance setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marana, AZ. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
