Material Handler - 1st Shift - $20/hr - Sorrento ValleyJob DescriptionThe Material Handler provides comprehensive shipping, receiving, storage, order fulfillment, and data entry services for finished goods inventory and equipment at designated facilities. This role focuses on accurately picking, packing, sorting, arranging, counting, storing, and processing items for storage and shipment according to established procedures and customer requirements. The Material Handler ensures a high level of quality so that customers receive the correct products within the requested time frames, while maintaining safe operation of distribution equipment and accurate transaction entry using tablets and related systems.Responsibilities
• Receive materials and finished goods on a daily basis and ensure all incoming shipments are processed promptly and accurately. • Verify the quality, type, and quantity of materials received against accompanying documentation such as packing lists, and resolve discrepancies as needed. • Pick, pack, sort, arrange, and count inventory items for storage or shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer specifications. • Prepare products for shipment by packaging and palletizing items for truck pickups, ensuring loads are secure and properly labeled. • Store materials and finished goods in designated locations, maintaining organized and efficient inventory layout. • Safely operate distribution equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, following all safety guidelines and facility procedures. • Use RF scanners and DELL tablets to perform inventory transactions, shipping and receiving updates, and ERP system entries with a high level of accuracy. • Load trucks and other transport vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring correct product and quantities are shipped. • Support inventory control activities by accurately recording movements, counts, and adjustments to maintain reliable stock levels. • Follow all standard operating procedures for shipping, receiving, and inventory management to sustain consistent quality and on-time delivery. • Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet daily shipping and receiving targets and resolve operational issues. • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area in warehouse and distribution spaces. • Be available for overtime and weekend work as needed to support high-volume periods and global shipping demands. Essential Skills
• Experience operating forklifts in a distribution or warehouse environment. • Hands-on inventory control experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations. • Practical packaging experience, including palletizing items for truck pickups and preparing products for shipment. • Ability to use RF scanners for inventory and shipping/receiving transactions. • Experience with loading trucks and handling palletized freight. • Proficiency in operating pallet jacks and other material handling equipment. • Comfort using tablets, such as DELL tablets, to perform data entry and transaction processing. • Ability to follow established procedures and documentation requirements for shipping and receiving. • Strong attention to detail to verify product type, quantity, and documentation accuracy. • Capability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends. • Experience working with ERP systems for updating inventory and transaction records. • Experience in a high-volume shipping environment that serves customers across multiple regions or globally. • General computer literacy and ability to learn new warehouse management or inventory systems. • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a busy distribution setting. • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a warehouse or distribution environment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
