Job Title: CookJob DescriptionResponsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals in a fast-paced dining environment. This role ensures food is prepared according to established recipes, food safety standards, and nutritional guidelines while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. Prepare food in accordance with applicable federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensure quality food service is provided at all times.Responsibilities
• Prepare, season, and cook a variety of meals including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special event menu items. • Follow standardized recipes and portion controls to ensure consistency and quality. • Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. • Assist with food preparation, stocking, and inventory management. • Monitor food quality, freshness, and presentation standards. • Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations. • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including kitchen equipment and food preparation areas. • Receive, store, and rotate food products using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures. • Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to support daily dining operations. • Accommodate dietary restrictions and special meal requests when necessary. • Assist with catering events, banquets, and special campus functions as assigned. Essential Skills
• Proven experience working in a commercial kitchen environment. • Strong food preparation and cooking skills, including line cook and food production experience. • Knowledge of food safety and safe food-handling practices. • Ability to maintain high food quality standards, including taste, temperature, and presentation. • Ability to perform kitchen cleaning and dishwashing tasks to maintain sanitation standards. • Customer service skills and the ability to interact with customers in a professional, courteous manner. • Ability to work effectively in a nursing home, retirement, or similar healthcare-related foodservice environment. • Ability to lift more than 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as required by the role. • Capability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and according to instructions. • Strong teamwork and communication skills to maintain good working relationships with coworkers and leadership. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED preferred. • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. • Experience in food preparation, including assembling, cooking, and food safety. • Expertise in high-volume settings such as hospitals, hotels, casinos, or similar operations is preferred. Work EnvironmentFast-paced environment Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jefferson City, TN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $15.50 - $16.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
