About this role

Job Title: FabricatorJob DescriptionThe fabricator will perform MIG and TIG welding on small to large custom industrial ovens, ranging in size from a lunchbox to roughly half a semi-trailer. In addition to welding, this role involves fabrication, insulation of ovens, and general assembly work in the shop. The position requires strong blueprint reading skills, accurate tape measure use, and solid mechanical aptitude. Candidates must be willing to work across multiple tasks and successfully pass a weld test; this is not a welding-only position. Responsibilities • Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welds on a wide range of industrial oven sizes and configurations. • Fabricate components and assemblies according to blueprints and specifications. • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate builds. • Use a tape measure and other hand tools to take precise measurements and verify dimensions. • Insulate ovens as part of the build process, following established procedures and safety guidelines. • Assist with assembly tasks around the shop, including fitting, fastening, and final build of custom equipment. • Support machine setup activities related to welding and fabrication operations, as needed. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to company safety standards. • Participate in weld testing and quality checks to ensure all work meets internal and customer requirements. • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and accommodate custom orders. • Demonstrate pride in workmanship by avoiding shortcuts and ensuring each project is completed to a high standard. Essential Skills • Proficiency in MIG welding on a variety of materials and thicknesses. • Proficiency in TIG welding on a variety of materials and thicknesses. • Strong blueprint reading skills, including the ability to interpret dimensions and fabrication details. • Experience in fabrication, including cutting, fitting, and assembling metal components. • Ability to accurately use a tape measure and basic hand tools. • Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of how components fit and function together. • Ability and willingness to perform both welding and non-welding tasks such as insulation and assembly. • Capability to pass a weld test demonstrating skill and consistency. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with assembly work in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. • Exposure to machine setup related to welding or fabrication processes. • Welding certifications or formal welder training. • Prior experience building special or custom equipment. • Interest in learning new skills and expanding responsibilities over time. • Comfort working in a custom, build-to-order production environment. Dress code is typical for a fabrication and welding shop, with appropriate workwear and safety gear required. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Riverside, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
