Job Title: Commercial Maintenance TechnicianJob DescriptionThe Commercial Maintenance Technician delivers efficient, high-quality maintenance services to multiple commercial customers within an assigned geographic territory. You will use a company-provided vehicle and tools to travel to various customer sites, where you will perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance on buildings, equipment, and grounds. This role combines hands-on technical work with direct, face-to-face interaction with customers to ensure safe, functional, and professional commercial environments.Responsibilities
• Travel daily to multiple commercial customer sites within an assigned territory using a company-provided vehicle. • Perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance on commercial buildings, equipment, and grounds. • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve maintenance issues across multiple building systems and components. • Utilize multiple trade skills, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, and HVAC, to address maintenance needs. • Conduct minor electrical repairs and maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation of building systems. • Perform minor plumbing repairs, including fixtures, leaks, and other basic plumbing issues. • Complete general carpentry tasks such as repairs to doors, frames, trim, and other structural components. • Carry out drywall repairs, patching, and painting to maintain a clean and professional appearance of facilities. • Support HVAC maintenance and repair tasks as needed to keep systems operating efficiently. • Perform routine building maintenance inspections and identify potential issues before they become major problems. • Document work performed, including maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used, according to company standards. • Maintain a professional appearance and provide courteous, face-to-face customer service at all times. • Adhere to safety procedures and company policies while working independently at customer locations. • Collaborate with other technicians and support staff to ensure timely and effective completion of service requests. • Manage time effectively to complete daily assignments and travel between job sites within the designated radius. Essential Skills
• Two to five years of general maintenance experience, including minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. • Demonstrated ability to perform duties across multiple building trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, and HVAC support. • Experience with building maintenance, including preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities. • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment. • Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve maintenance issues efficiently. • Experience with electrical maintenance and basic electrical repairs in commercial or similar settings. • Experience in commercial services or commercial property maintenance highly preferred. • Ability to work independently in the field, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize work across several customer locations. • Effective face-to-face communication skills to interact professionally with customers and represent the company on-site. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel daily within the assigned geographic radius. • Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the described duties and responsibilities. • Related work experience in one or more building trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, or HVAC. • Experience performing preventative maintenance programs for commercial facilities. • Familiarity with HVAC maintenance and repair tasks in a commercial environment. • Experience with drywall repair, patching, and interior painting. • Comfort working across different customer types, including retail, daycare, and other commercial facilities. • Ability to maintain accurate records of work performed and follow company documentation procedures. You will work in a variety of commercial environments, including daycares, retail stores, and other commercial facilities. One technician will focus primarily on daycare facilities under a dedicated account, while another technician will work in a shared role servicing multiple customer locations such as retail stores, footwear facilities, and additional learning care sites. The work involves moving between indoor and outdoor areas, performing hands-on maintenance tasks with company-provided tools and equipment. You will typically work independently on-site while staying connected to the broader maintenance team for support and coordination. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
