Job Title: Filter Service Technician II or Lead HVAC TechicianJob DescriptionThis full-time Filter Service Technician II role focuses on driving service trucks to customer sites, installing and maintaining HVAC filters, performing inspections, cleaning debris, documenting deficiencies, and supporting warehouse and delivery operations. The position involves frequent travel, with more than half of the time spent out of town, and requires strong mechanical aptitude, safe driving practices, and a commitment to quality service and safety.Responsibilities
• Drive 16-foot box trucks safely to and from customer locations while maintaining a clean driving record and complying with all transportation regulations. • Install, replace, and maintain HVAC filters in a variety of systems and environments, ensuring proper fit, function, and cleanliness. • Perform routine inspections of HVAC filter systems to identify issues, deficiencies, and potential maintenance needs. • Clean debris from HVAC systems and surrounding areas to support efficient operation and maintain a safe work environment. • Document deficiencies, service findings, and work performed accurately and clearly for internal records and customer reporting. • Support warehouse operations by assisting with loading and unloading materials, organizing inventory, and preparing equipment and filters for delivery. • Use hand tools and basic mechanical skills to perform field service tasks, minor adjustments, and basic HVAC-related work as needed. • Maintain accountability for tools and equipment, ensuring that service trucks remain clean, organized, and in good working condition. • Communicate professionally with customers on-site to explain work performed, answer basic questions, and represent the company in a positive manner. • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate schedules, share information, and ensure efficient completion of service routes. • Apply basic math skills to verify quantities, calculate simple percentages, and confirm accuracy of materials and documentation. • Travel frequently, including out-of-town assignments exceeding 50% of work time, and adapt to diverse work environments and schedules. • Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment, safe ladder use, and adherence to site-specific safety rules. Essential Skills
• Mechanical aptitude and experience in field service or related mechanical work. • Experience with HVAC filter installation and maintenance. • Ability to drive 16-foot box trucks safely with a clean driving record. • Basic HVAC technical knowledge and understanding of HVAC systems. • Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work at heights. • Comfort working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. • Basic math skills, including working with percentages and verifying counts or measurements. • Tool accountability and basic truck maintenance awareness. • High school diploma. • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record • Ability to obtain and maintain DOT physical exam clearance. • Experience using hand tools and supporting warehouse operations. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Prior experience in HVAC repair or working with HVAC systems. • Previous field service experience involving travel to multiple customer sites. • Experience operating box trucks or similar commercial vehicles. • Familiarity with warehouse processes such as inventory handling, loading, and unloading. • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic in physically demanding roles. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Grove, NJ. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
