About this role

Job Title: General Laborer – Fence InstallationJob DescriptionThe General Laborer supports the Installation Foreman on residential, commercial, and industrial fence installation projects. This role helps install a variety of fencing types and handrails, ensures work is completed safely and on schedule, and follows project specifications and quality standards. Responsibilities • Support the Installation Foreman with daily installation activities for residential, commercial, and industrial fence projects. • Install multiple types of fencing, including chain-link, wood, vinyl, ornamental iron, and farm fencing, as well as handrails. • Read and interpret fence drawings, specifications, and material lists to understand project requirements. • Load installation trucks with the correct materials, tools, and equipment needed for each job. • Use welding equipment, digging equipment, Bobcats, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively. • Measure materials accurately using tape measures and other standard measuring tools. • Assist in assembling fence components and hardware according to project plans and specifications. • Work closely with the Installation Foreman and team members to complete projects on time and in accordance with quality standards. • Follow all company and workplace safety policies and procedures at all times. • Identify and report safety concerns immediately to the appropriate personnel. • Take direction from supervisors and adjust work priorities as needed to meet project demands. • Travel to various job sites, including occasional overnight and out-of-town projects as required. • Perform general labor and construction tasks as needed to support fence installation and related activities. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, equipment, and vehicles. • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure successful project completion. Essential Skills • At least 6 months of related experience in general labor, construction, production, or similar hands-on work. • Ability to install multiple types of fencing and handrails. • Ability to read and interpret fence drawings, specifications, and material lists. • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and other basic construction tools. • Ability to operate or work around welding equipment, digging equipment, and Bobcats under supervision. • Ability to read and understand safety rules, blueprints, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Basic math skills, including working with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, standard measurements, and metric measurements. • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship and accurate measurements. • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety policies. • Ability to follow directions from supervisors and work effectively as part of a team. • Reliable work ethic with the ability to travel to various job sites as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications • High school diploma or GED required. • Equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered. • Ability to understand fence material specifications preferred. • Working knowledge of fencing products preferred. • Customer service mindset with the ability to interact professionally at job sites. • Experience in outdoor construction or installation work is a plus. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Salem, OR. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
