Job Title: Maintenance MechanicJob DescriptionThe Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative maintenance and repairs on industrial manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production lines. This role focuses on troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, air, and water systems, supporting injection molding and auxiliary equipment, and minimizing production downtime through timely and accurate maintenance activities.Responsibilities
• Perform preventative maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life. • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, air, and water systems with minimal impact to production uptime. • Diagnose equipment malfunctions, respond quickly to breakdowns, and restore equipment to service to keep production lines operational. • Support injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment by identifying and correcting mechanical and electrical issues. • Receive shift turnover updates from supervisors and maintenance teammates and communicate open issues, completed repairs, and ongoing concerns during daily handoffs. • Escalate complex repairs and recurring equipment problems to senior maintenance or technical specialists when necessary. • Create, update, and close work orders in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring accurate documentation of repairs and maintenance activities. • Maintain detailed maintenance records, including work performed, parts used, and equipment status, in accordance with established procedures. • Manage maintenance parts inventory by checking materials and tools in and out, documenting usage, and tracking inventory consumption. • Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential issues and perform corrective actions before failures occur. • Follow all safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and preventative maintenance standards while maintaining a clean and organized work area. • Collaborate closely with production teams to maximize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support production goals. • Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform mechanical, electrical, and fabrication tasks as needed. • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide troubleshooting and repair activities. • Support automated production equipment such as conveyors, pumps, compressors, and related systems, including performing adjustments and minor modifications. • Participate in skills advancement programs and apply newly acquired skills to improve equipment performance and maintenance effectiveness. Essential Skills
• Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. • Strong troubleshooting and repair experience with 480V three-phase electrical systems, motors, drives, control panels, and power distribution equipment. • Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, air, and water systems in a production setting. • Proficiency in performing preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, and emergency repairs on industrial manufacturing equipment. • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues quickly to minimize production downtime. • Experience supporting automated production equipment, including injection molding machines, conveyors, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary systems (highly preferred). • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals. • Comfort using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to create work orders, document repairs, and maintain maintenance records. • Experience managing spare parts inventory, tracking material usage, and maintaining accurate inventory transactions. • Knowledge of electrical systems at 420/480V on industrial production machines. • Knowledge of hydraulic systems involving pressurized liquids and related components. • Knowledge of pneumatic systems, including rebuilding pneumatic parts and components. • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in industrial maintenance. • Effective communication skills to clearly hand off equipment status, open issues, and completed repairs between shifts. • Ability to work safely in a GMP-regulated environment while following all safety and maintenance procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Maintenance Mechanic II level experience or equivalent is preferred. • Experience with PLC troubleshooting in a manufacturing or production environment. • Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise systems for maintenance or inventory management is a plus. • Experience reading and working from detailed schematics and wiring diagrams. • Proficiency with hand tools and basic power tools used in mechanical and electrical maintenance. • Experience with mechanical fabrication and welding is a plus. • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production and engineering. • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple work orders, priorities, and shift handoffs effectively. • Comfort working in a large, fast-paced production environment with multiple departments. • Commitment to continuous learning and skills advancement through training and development programs. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
