Job Title: Utility PackerJob DescriptionThe Utility Packer works on a high-volume packaging line handling frozen vegetables. In this role, you sort, bag, box, and package products while maintaining quality, safety, and sanitation standards in a cold, wet production environment. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity designed to lead to long-term employment based on performance, attendance, and production results. Responsibilities • Work on the packaging line to dump, pack, and stack frozen products efficiently and accurately. • Pack products into specifically labeled cases and various packaging receptacles according to production requirements. • Inspect products to remove blemishes and any foreign material, ensuring consistent quality standards. • Perform sanitation tasks on all packing lines to maintain a clean and safe production area. • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety procedures, operational guidelines, and sanitation programs. • Maintain general housekeeping practices throughout the facility, keeping work areas organized and free of debris. • Stack finished product onto designated pallet types according to production and shipping specifications. • Operate the facility dump station when needed, following all safety and operational protocols. • Work effectively in a cold and wet environment while meeting production goals and maintaining quality. • Lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds as required by the production process. • Participate in quality assurance by making necessary quality checks on each item going out. • Support fast-paced production operations by keeping up with conveyor line speeds and workflow. Essential Skills • At least 2–3 months of experience in packing, production, or general labor in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. • Ability to perform repetitive packing, sorting, and stacking tasks while maintaining accuracy and speed. • Experience working in fast-paced production environments with conveyor systems. • Understanding of basic quality assurance practices and willingness to perform quality checks on all outgoing products. • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions related to GMPs, safety, sanitation, and operational procedures. • Capability to work in cold and wet conditions for extended periods. • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for the duration of the shift. • Reliability in attendance and consistent performance to meet production measures. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous experience in packaging, warehouse packing, or production work is strongly preferred. • Familiarity with general labor tasks such as sorting, stacking, and housekeeping in an industrial setting. • Comfort working around frozen products and cold-storage processes. • Attention to detail to identify product defects and foreign material during inspection. • Willingness to learn and operate facility equipment such as dump stations under proper supervision. • Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a structured production environment. Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a production facility that operates in a wet and cold environment. The production area typically ranges from 35 to 40 degrees, while the freezer area can reach 0 degrees. Production workers will rarely need to enter the freezer, but should be comfortable working in cold conditions. The environment is fast-paced, with products conveyed along lines that require continuous packing, sorting, and quality checks. Shifts are structured as follows: first shift runs from early morning to mid-afternoon, Monday through Friday, with potential work on Saturday; second shift runs from mid-afternoon to late evening, Monday through Friday, with potential work on Saturday; third shift runs overnight from late evening to early morning, Sunday through Thursday, with potential additional hours as needed. Employees are expected to follow all safety, GMP, and sanitation standards and maintain good housekeeping throughout the facility. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lebanon, PA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
