About this role

Job summary

Manages administrative and pathway co-ordination for patients with a haematological cancer diagnosis. Working closely with CNS team, Consultants and other colleagues within Airedale and outside organisations.

Co-ordinating patient appts, scans, results and MDTs, providing updates and presenting if required.

Maintain accurate data bases and documentation.

Auditing, collating information and presenting if appropriate.

Patient communication handling sensitive phone calls or face to face discussions, fielding patient queries, knowing when to escalate.

Main duties of the job

Excellent communication skills, verbally and non verbal.

Co-ordinate the patients pathway.

Work closely with CNS team and Consultants to support patients in clinic, HODU and the wards

To put patients at the center of all care.

Work autonomously and as part of a team.

Liaise with outside colleagues

To know own limitations and escalate appropriately

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Literate and numerate - Basic Skills Maths and English level 2 (GCSE A-C equivalent) Computer literate with knowledge of IT systems such as Word and Excel

Desirable

Administration qualification Knowledge of databases and spreadsheets HNC or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent evidence of working at that level

Experience Essential

Experience within the NHS or similar environment (e.g. Dept of Health or other public service) Experience of working with cancer patients or within a relevant clinical setting Ability to effectively communicate with patients, their families and or carers and members of the multidisciplinary team

Desirable

Experience of audit and data collection Experience of telephone triage and patient contact Experience of Waiting Time Targets Experience of working with patients

Skills Essential

Excellent organisational skills Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills Understands the need to prioritise and cope with changes at short notice. Understands confidentially
